Description
The former site of a limestone quarry, the Venetian Pool was created in 1924.  The quarry struck an aquifer and water has flowed ever since.  The pool, with a palm-fringed island, coral rock caves, waterfalls, and vine-covered logias, is included on the National Register of Historic Places.  Formerly and currently a site frequented by the wealthy, the pool is set in an expensive neighborhood near the coast and is open to the public for swimming, water aerobics, snorkeling and scuba lessons, plus social events.  The pool is visited by over 100,000 visitors each year.
